Cornwall challenges the litter problem!
Local groups here in Cornwall are working within
their communities to prevent littering - and making a difference!
On these pages you can see how our North Hill Project is more than litter picking - it's about the three Ps:
Picking, Prevention and Partners
Litter is degrading the environment here in Cornwall and across the UK. It causes problems for wildlife, and our beautiful county is suffering!
We find numerous drinks bottles and cans - water and soft drinks as well as alcohol. Please recycle!

You can read here about the parish litter picking volunteers, the litter problems, and essentially how the community is supporting the project which is essentially about preventing littering. in the first place.

We are now one of a network of 5 neighbouring parishes working to tackle littering. Read more >
A few minutes of your time
Please spend a few minutes reading about how this project works - the Picking, Prevention and Partners - and about our aims.
We are now liaising with neighbouring parishes as they too start their litter groups. See our parish newsletter report.

Say NO to LITTER
This is one of our signs and it’s message is one that we – partners, volunteers and friends of the project – can all promote.
Please help us to promote this message throughout the parish and beyond.
Thanks to everyone supporting the project and doing their but to help as we strive to be a litter-free parish.
And if you would like to join our group of volunteers we'd love to hear from you.
Fly-Tipping
We have recently been asked about fly-tipping, so here is some advice taken from the Cornwall Council website:
Fly-tipping (the illegal dumping of rubbish or bulky items on land not licensed to receive it) can be dangerous, pollutes land and waterways and costs the council tax payer significant amounts of money to clear away.
Report fly-tipping to your council
You should contact the council if you see someone fly-tipping or to report fly-tipped waste; in both cases, provide as much detail as possible.
Contact Environmental Management on 0300 1234 202, or email envmanagement@cornwall.gov.uk, or by using the fly-tipping form on the Council website.
